Videos & Pictures: Battle for the Belts
Three of the four of Thai superstars: Kem Sitsongpeenong (Welterweight), Jomthong Chuwattana (Lightweight) and Sakeddao Petchpayatai (Superlight) won WBC world titles while Fabio Pinca (France) beat courageous Big Ben Ch. Praram (Thailand) in a split decision. Steve McKinnon (Australia) blasted Frank Munoz out of the ring to record a stunning KO, Joe Schilling showed his world class with a convincing 49-47 unanimous points win against gallant Karapet Karapetyan (Holland) and Fabiano Cyclone performed on world stage to defeat the championship title holder Christian Bosch with a classic rising knee strike.
Pinca had a titantic tussle with defending champion Big Ben. After five hard rounds of attacking Muay Thai, Pinca just got over the winner's line to be rewarded with his second WBC World title green belt. Two of the judges favoured the Frenchman 49-48 while the third had Big Ben in front after 5 rounds.
The event went live with a traditional Thai boxing band and all of fighter, Thais and foreigners, performing the pre-fight dance ceremony.
The historic event was televised live across Thailand on Channel 9 and internationally by BEC Tero IMG.
BEC Tero plans to stage the next Battle For the Belts WBC World Titles in the U.K. after the London Olympics.
