King's Bithday, many World titles competed
Bangkok last saturday
To celebrate the King of Thaïland's Birthday, fighters from all over the world confronted each other last saturday in Bangkok. High-kicks and elbow strikes punctuated no fewer than 27 bouts until 4.00 am ! The French team notably faced a Thai team (they only won 1 fight in 5) and no fewer than 6 world titles were also competed.
Brice GUIDON (France, 107 kgs) pits himself against Marcus NOVACK (115 kgs). A real heavyweight fight ! GUIDON, less podgy, is more « fimeu »: he uses his elbows or his knees. In the 2nd round GUIDON throws a good series of punches in NOVACK's face which starts to be bruised. The next round, the Canadian shows real signs of exhaustion. NOVACK gets his face bashed in by GUIDON's punches and elbows, and he collapses in the end, drained, after an umpteenth assault from GUIDON.
Charles FRANCOIS faces under 67 kgs the World Champion Alexandre BOYANCE from Switzerland. The fight starts strong with two extremly determined boxers. BOYANCE is very fast and powerful, with a terrible right punch and destructive low-kicks. But Charles FRANCOIS, in the 2nd round, sends his opponent to the canvas with a devastating right punch. The Swiss collapses in the ropes and lets the Frenchman rob him the title.
Thailand brings Charles FRANCOIS luck : 6 fights in this country, 6 wins by KO !
Melisa EMINENT AIR from England defended her WPMF World title (58 kgs) against Mase BUAMAS (Thailand). The Englishwoman proposes a real test of stamina to the Thai. Melisa contents herself with moving forward again and again, swinging punches as a truck driver, Mase throws body kicks and front kicks in order to stop her opponent. But from the 3rd round, she begins to get tired and her guard is then nonexistent. She gets beaten up, but she takes it and doesn't fall down.
Melisa retains her title.
SAMORCHAI Luksukothai (Thaïlande) also defended his belt against Juan Mario Kaewsamrit (Spain) under 61,5kgs. Certainly the best fight of the show. The first round is to Juan Mario's advantage, he starts rather well, with big low-kicks. But from the second round, the Thai reveals an amazing left body kick ! His leg goes at the speed of light. But SAMORCHAI knocks his opponent down with his fists. The Spaniard manages to come back after being counted. The Thai is thus ahead and he lets the 5th round go, even taking the liberty of throwing his gumshield down a few seconds before the final gong.
The WPMF Welterweight title (67 kgs) was vacant so Bechad KIATPRAPAT (Iran) and Joss Imgramgym (Brasil) competed for. The domination of this fight is always changing. At times the Iranian gains the upper hand, at times the Brazilian does. The 3rd round illustrates that very well, with Bechad who dominates in the first minute then Joss throws series of body kicks which make the crowd thrill (series of 6 body kicks in a row once). But Bechad finishes better, with series of elbows at the end of the last round and gets the belt.
The last fight for a World title pits the Thai THANASAK and an other Iranian, Abbas AHMADI (63,5 kgs). The Thai has a very active front leg. He picks up points with his left body kicks and left front kicks and he is logically declared the winner by unanimous decision.
